Singer William Ludwig and musical director Dean Austin take you back to the turbulent years of the Weimar cabarets.
The duo, dubbed the 'cabaret kings' (The Londonist), will cover the satirical, political and iconic songs of the era - from Kurt Weill and Brecht to Hollaender and Spoliansky. The pair have performed this material at festivals in Edinburgh, Switzerland, Barcelona and Recklinghausen, Don’t Tell Mama in New York and on tour across Germany.
Every Thursday evening throughout Into the Night, the galleries will come to life with performance in the exhibition’s recreation of Strasbourg’s iconic L’Aubette (1928), focusing on the vitality and diversity of jazz as performed across the globe. The evenings are co-curated with Mark Kavuma, a prominent young trumpet player on the British jazz scene.
